Pre-Iron Bowl, 2023
Here is a photograph of the green space in front of the Auburn University football stadium, the day before the big rivalry game: Auburn vs. Alabama. These tents have been set up all during Thanksgiving Week (they were not taken down after last weekend's home game). Today all of the tent-spaces are being refilled with tables, chairs, and television screens.Tomorrow the influx of people coming onto campus to tailgate and watch the game will more than double the population of the Auburn-Opelika municipalities.
I like to think of all of this as America's Most Affluent Shantytown...
