Sign Of The Times?

A recent article in the local newspaper hinted that the "welcome signs" that people driving into Auburn have seen for decades might be getting a (major?) facelift of some sort. This prompted me to take walk down an obscure dirt trail in Auburn to visit the least accessible such sign.
