Pseudo-palindromes
For each letter of the alphabet, can you find a word that begins with the letter and, if that initial letter is removed, the remaining stem of the word is palindromic? My favorite examples found (from either MW-3 dictionary or the TWL3 Scrabble word list) are:
agnizing
brewer
challah
dyspepsy
eyry
fretter
grammar
hoodoo
igniting
jinni
kronor
levitative
medicide
nana
ODed
protutor
qi
redivide
sememe
trekker
uneven
voodoo
wikiwiki
xi
yobbo
zanana
Other obscure, but longer, examples include: barabara, chagigah, freitier, kavakava, matamata, nalla, predivider, qere, tikitiki, Wallawalla.
To be honest, I'm quite disappointed at the entries for E, N, O, and S. I expected more from those letters...
