Front Hook: I
I deliberated for quite some time about which of two front hooked words I should choose for the letter I. I was all set to use ICONIC because I really liked the simplicity of the two words.
But then a Facebook friend sent me an unsolicited vote for another word which, upon reflection, is an even better example (thanks, Arthur).
I is for Islander
This is actually the first significant front hook example I heard about in my early days of competitive Scrabble play (someone mentioned a past game in which they got to hook an I onto the front of SLANDER).
It really is a beauty. The complete disassociation of the two words, the S that becomes silent when the I is added to the front. Really cool.
A few more honorable mentions for I (besides ICONIC):
- Image
- Irises
- Isolation
- Ivies
