During World War II members of Britain's Women's Royal Naval Service operated complex electro-mechanical rotor cipher machines to decode encrypted German transmissions. I wonder if any group of these ladies ever anagrammatically dubbed themselves: "Enigma's Gamines"?
Probably not. It was a busy time. There was a lot going on.
